FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Does Functional Medicine Work?

A: Yes! Functional medicine is founded in science. Even though many sources describe it as holistic or alternative medicine, it is science-based. The main difference is that we focus on body systems rather than the traditional medicine approach of treating symptoms.

Q: Do you do virtual appointments?

A: Yes we do, in fact it's the only way we work with patients so we can help people not constrained by local availability.

Q: Will I need to continue seeing my other specialists?

A: Yes, but we work with your specialists as needed.

Q: What conditions are most common among your patients?

A: We help with a variety of conditions. The most common conditions we see are gastrointestinal, autoimmune, hormone, thyroid, fatigue, and brain health.

Q: Is Functional Medicine covered by Insurance?

A: Most health insurance plans do not cover this type of health care. They operate on a ‘Diagnose and Treat’ model where the treatments typically consist of medications to cover the symptom, or surgery. In order to control their costs, insurers generally opt for the most basic labs. The Functional Medicine approach allows for more in-depth, targeted tests. However, in some instances based on your FSA / HSA account, costs may qualify for reimbursement.
