Hi, I’m AMY WOOD, FNP-BC, FMA-CP
ABOUT ME:
I am an experienced, compassionate provider, certified in functional medicine, and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a broad range of experience working with people of all ages. I obtained my Nurse Practitioner degree from Jacksonville University while working at the Mayo Clinic as a critical care nurse. I have spent over 20 years in healthcare working with all ages and in a variety of settings. I take the time to listen to each client and utilize knowledge and tools to work with them to form a plan to help them with their health goals.
While working in primary care and urgent care clinics I discovered much of traditional medicine is broken, and is more reactive than preventive. I utilize integrative approaches incorporating functional medicine and specialty testing in addition to traditional bloodwork to help determine the root cause of symptoms. I use that information to formulate a personalized health plan to help each of my clients lead better, healthier lives. I have always thought it important to educate patients to better care for themselves. A dietary or lifestyle adjustment is often a much better approach than years of prescribed medications, but sometimes medications are necessary. In working with people with chronic, debilitating issues and overcoming obstacles, I am reminded of the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henly.
I believe that with the right support and tools we can all be unconquerable.
When I am not working, I enjoy a wide variety of outdoor adventures with family and friends hiking, biking, sailing, camping, and snowshoeing. I also love my husband’s cooking.
